BREWDOG'S BLACKLISTED BEER IS BACK AND NOW IT'S BATTLING IT OUT FOR A NATIONAL LISTING WITH SAINSBURY'S
BrewDog completely rocked out the 2009 Sainsbury's Beer Competition. We are delighted to announce that 3 of the final 15 are BrewDog beers.
The 2009 Sainsbury's Beer Competition was developed to encourage the creation of innovative new beers aimed at the mainstream beer lover. The judging panel was made up of eleven experts who judged 115 beers from 57 different breweries over the course of the competition with only 15 making it into the final. The judges chose the finalists based on criteria including appearance, aroma, flavour and style. The final 15 will be on sale in stores for 2 months starting on the 13th July. The 2 winners, which will be given a full listing. The winners will be be the most bought beers by Sainsbury's customers during the 2 month period. So we need your help to try and turn this into a permanent listing!
The cool thing is that the BrewDog beers in the final 15 are Hardcore IPA, Dogma and Chaos Theory. These represent some of the most extreme and directional beers in our line up and we are really excited that allot of people are going to be able to try them as a result of this competition.
Dogma, the controversial beer originally known as Speedball, has made it into the final of the 2009 Sainsbury's Beer Competition and will, from July 13th 2009, be available in Sainsbury's branches across the UK as customers are given control to choose which beer from the final 15 will gain a prestigious national listing. Dogma is brewed with Scottish Heather Honey, Californian Poppy, Kola Nut and Guarana.
Joining Dogma on Sainsbury's shelves will be BrewDog's Hardcore IPA - the first 150 IBU+ double IPA ever brewed in the UK. Containing more International Bitterness Units (IBUs) than any other UK beer, it is a huge, insanely hopped West Coast IPA .Find out more here: www.brewdog.com/blog-article.php?id=70
Chaos Theory, a copper pacific IPA which was described by Blog O'Beer's Darren Turpin as a ‘relentless onslaught of flavour upon flavour' will also join the Sainsbury's line up. Chaos Theory has already proved a hit with beer lovers who voted it top in a prototype challenge which BrewDog ran: www.brewdog.com/blog-article.php?id=32
James Watt, MD of Brewdog, said: "The competition is very in keeping with what BrewDog is about as a company - giving beer lovers the chance to try innovative, exciting beers and giving them control over what they see on the shelves.
"The fact is customers don't want to taste the same bland flavours all time. BrewDog will continue to push the boundaries to make brilliant beers that will encourage customers to forget the old, boring image that beer has and a national listing with Sainsbury's for Hardcore, Chaos Theory and Dogma would be a huge step forward in doing this."
The beers will be available nationwide in Sainsbury's from 13th July.
If you can't wait to buy them all together you can purchase a special Sainsbury's 2009 Beer Competition mixed case here: 3 Dogma, 3 Hardcore, 3 Chaos Theory and 2 BrewDog Glasses to enjoy them from:
