Today, we have been busy installing our brand new 40HL brew-house. This should be online and fully tested by the end of the weekend and ready to brew some hardcore ales. This brew-house more than doubles our brewing capacity to enable us to keep up with our ever increasing sales and distribution.

The new kit replaces the 20HL brew-house we have had since day 1 of BrewDog. It was bitter-sweet to tear the old one out on Tuesday. The old system has been brewing every hour of 2009 so far.  We had to brew round the clock 24/7 just to keep up, it saw a lot of energy drink fuelled night-shifts action. In terms of being able to brew more efficiently and larger batches and the knock-on effect on capacity the new brew-house will be awesome, I was still a little bit sad to see the old one go.

April 2007 - commissioning the original Brew-House

The original brew-house has so many BrewDog memories tied up in it. I remember brewing the first batch with Martin and the thermometer, my mobile phone and my car keys all ended up in the kettle along with the boiling wort! We are hoping the new one gets off to a smoother start and look forward to making some great beers and exciting plenty of imaginations with it!
