A weekend at BrewDog

A weekend at BrewDog

As always it has been very busy here at BrewDog HQ, here is your round-up of the highlights and happenings from the last couple of days.

The install of the new brewhouse that we told you about here http://www.brewdog.com/blog-article.php?id=201  is going well.  The welding is complete, the pipe-work in place and we are just waiting for the new concrete to be dry enough before we can start our intensive cleaning regime prior to the first brew on the new kit. We should be brewing by Monday morning and the brewing squad are excited about rocking some hardcore ales out of the new set-up. The next photo you see of it should be a lot cleaner and tidier with no tools, no mess and some killer high alpha hops being fired into the new kettle.

Martin and Halley working hard to get the new Brew-House online.

Oz Clarke picked Hardcore IPA as the best British Beer in The Independent’s Food and Drink Awards. Hardcore is currently out of stock, the next batch is going to be available online in 2 weeks time for all you hop-heads.  We are delighted with the award from The Independent and it is the first award we have won for our uncompromising double IPA.

Jack Cameron has joined the team at BrewDog. Jack is Michael Cameron’s son. Michael is the superstar who handles the import and distribution of BrewDog in the US and was keen to send his son over to Scotland to brew with our crazy gang and get some experience working in a brewery.  Jack has made a great start to life at BrewDog and we look forward to teaching him how to brew over the coming months!

Kyle and Jack: 2 rock 'n roll brewers in the making!

We also seem to have upset Grandpa Protz, he is having a go at us and Oz Clarke on his blog. ‘I note that BrewDog is not a member of SIBA, the Society of Independent Brewers. Most craft breweries are SIBA members but BrewDog is outside the loop and can't be taken to task by SIBA’.  The thought of SIBA taking us to task sends shivers down my spine.

Bashah Bash was at Stone on Saturday as they formally launched bashah – the black Belgian Double IPA that we collaboratively brewed in Scotland. The event also saw pretty much all of our beers available on draught. I was gutted I was in Scotland and not SD this weekend. Here are some photos from the event.

And just because Punk Monk was awesome we decided to ‘Monk’ another Dog. Trashy Blonde Monk (imagine a monk in a wig) is now available online for a limited period only. We just made a 600 bottle pilot batch for fun! You can buy some here at a very special price, the only condition is that we want your feedback on the beer.

I am off to celebrate the commissioning of the new brew-house in a rather moderate way for the man supposedly responsible for binge drinking in the UK: an effervescent vitamin C with zinc out of a brandy snifter.

Keep rocking in the free world.

  • I was there for the Bashah Bash yesterday. Tried Bashah and Zeitgeist on tap and Smokehead on cask. All of which were awesome. And a buffalo burger to wash it all down with. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday afternoon if you ask me :D
