BrewDog Craft Corner Strikes Back
BrewDog loves art. Fact. When we're not brewing or scheming the downfall of the Western world, we like to get arty, finger paints et al.
Last time on BrewDog Craft Corner we explained how to make an exquisitely Punk'd photo frame; put together from various BrewDog odds and ends.
In our second installment we've served up a little something for the ladies – or anyone of a flamboyant persuasion – with this:
The BrewDog jugular adornment
Looking to surprise her with a wonderful handmade gift or even have something to win forgiveness should you forget to pick the kids up from school or manage to lock the cat out overnight?
The BrewDog jugular adornment is a masterpiece in jewelery making that has – on more than one occasion – been confused as a piece from the House of Faberge.
A riot of autumnal hues, this neck piece puts the heart back into fashion thanks to the rehoming of 3 BrewDog bottle tops which would otherwise had a date with the landfill rather than the jewelery box.
Suitable for any occasion – just as long as wash away any lingering aroma of beer – this necklace really is one of a kind.
To make the BrewDog jugular adornment you will need:
1 x old necklace chain
A selection of small glass beads in a colour of your choosing
3 x BrewDog bottle tops
1 x roll of thin craft wire
1.Gather your materials together. Depending on how long you would like your necklace to be, cut a number of wire strips ready to be beaded; 4 or 5 should be enough.
2. Start beading your lengths of wire, opting for different types of beads and patterns are you go to create a free-flowing look.
3.On one of your lengths of wire add the three BrewDog bottle tops by piercing a hole in the tops' surface and feeding the wire through.
4.Once you've finished your beading take the old necklace chain and attach it by wrapping both ends of the wire to the chain; this can be fiddly and take some time.
5.Finally pop on the necklace to check it sits at the correct height; if not simply wind or unwind some of the wire to lengthen or shorten.
Why not try your hand at making your own beads?
Rolling up strips of BrewDog labels in tubes makes a great cylindrical shape and is quick and easy to do.
For the even more adventurous (and those with a kiln handy) you could even go so far as to crush up some beer bottles, melt the glass and create your very own bespoke shapes.
It only takes 5 simple steps to reinvent something like a bottle top or beer label into a 100% unique work of art.
We also find dogs to be particularly useful craft partners, especially for thing like holding down sellotape and undertaking quality control. In this instance, Nacho managed to ingest 16 beads; he assures us all of them were up to scratch and totally delicious.
