The Great BrewDog Bar Hunt

The Great BrewDog Bar Hunt

Our first BrewDog bar in Aberdeen has been rocking since we opened it. Work has now started in our Edinburgh bar and we are stepping up our search for location 3 and 4! We had a few irons in the fire over the last week but unfortunately they did not work out. Still there are plenty more fishes in the sea, hops in the hop store and places in need of a hardcore craft beer bar. That is where you come in!

We want you to help us find the location for the next BrewDog bar – and we are willing to pay for your help. This is treasure hunt meets Challenge Annika with a punk beer twist!

We want you to submit brief proposals to us on available licensed premises in your area.  And if we take you up on the proposal, we will pay you £1000 in cash and £500 in beer and goodies for helping us out as well as giving you a lifetime discount in the new bar. Plus we will pay for a trip for you up to the BrewDog brewery to brew your own beer with our brewers for the grand opening of the new bar! In addition, any proposals which we follow up on will receive some BrewDog merchandise.

Our criteria:

  • it needs to be currently on the market
  • the venue needs to have previously been a bar and have both a cellar and a valid license
  • we would consider properties available to buy or lease
  • a reasonably small venue – 80-120 capacity
  • ideally in an old building with a bit of character to it
  • a location with good footfall but not necessarily completely central. Anything slightly edgy is cool with us!
  • we would consider a venue in any condition or state of disrepair!

This is what the Aberdeen one looked like when we bought it. It had been closed for 3 years previously.

Our target cities include (but are not excluded to):

  • Glasgow
  • Manchester
  • London
  • St Andrews
  • Dundee
  • Liverpool

However we are happy to accept proposals from other locations.

We would like the proposals to include:

  1. A photo of the venue (just snap it on your phone)
  2. Hopefully a schedule from the selling agent (this can usually be downloaded from the selling agent)
  3. Some brief information on the location and why you think it would be a good location

Please email the proposals and leads to james@brewdog.com the deadline for submissions is 29th January. Good luck!

  • Why didn't you keep the "Marischal Bar" name.
Corporate branding is _SO_ boring (and mainstream - like MacDonalds).

  • Black Lion would be an excellent choice. Great location and recently renovated but vacant for the last few months

  • The Old Bank its in the city centre and theres no competition in a market that's dying for somewhere decent .....

  • Oh, yes. Definitely the Black Lion. 5 mins' walk (if that) from Victoria Station, which makes it nicely accessible via tram from Piccadilly station (which is only 15 mins walk away anyhow) and not too far from the Marble Arch / Angel either.

Give Maf the money and get your arses down here... ;)

  • The missus used to work here before the landlord f*cked up and lost it. It was doing a roaring trade, too.
