This week, we bought a field

Perhaps it does not look like too much at the moment. As exciting as a pretty nice field in North East Scotland gets perhaps. Look a little closer, the little bottle of Punk IPA in the corner of the shot is a little preview of what we have planned for this field.

This week, BrewDog bought the field that will hopefully become home to our phase 2 brewery. The site is in a great location just North of Aberdeen and not as remote as we currently are.

This is the site where we want to build our completely energy self sufficient state of the art BrewDog brewery.  A flagship for renewable energy;  the vision is to have to build the world's first brewery powered only by windmills and biomass generators. A theatre of beer, where we will continue to expand our company, make great beers and push the boundaries of contemporary brewing. All whilst being very nice to the environment.

At 8 acres we are also going to have some space for some other cool things; a nice park, a little beer garden, our own little hop field and a small raspberry plantation (they are James' favourite fruit and Martin has some cool raspberry beer ideas). Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

We are just about to start the planning permission process, fingers crossed it goes smoothly.

There are plenty of obstacles for us to overcome on this project; obtaining planning permission, raising capital and continuing to build our sales. But it is a pretty cool dream (and field) to have.

We will keep you all updated and let you see plans once we have them.

  • lovely. I was travelling in the north east this weekend and went out of my way to drop by the current brewery to get my picture taken outside. If you relocate to nearer Aberdeen I may be able to do that more often. A small cafe area to sample your beers, and the chance to get a tour of the brewery would be welcomed by many Im sure.
