A BrewDog birthday for Moshi Moshi Records

A BrewDog birthday for Moshi Moshi Records

A few months ago the guys at Moshi Moshi Records got in touch to see if we wanted to brew a collaboration beer for their 15 year anniversary. One look at the list of music these guys have put out and you can see why we were keen to help! Their approach to music is much the same as our approach to beer; make what you love, put it out in the world and believe others will love it too. With this in mind, we set about creating a beer that you could enjoy with a faint air of smugness while listening to a great Moshi Moshi Record, secure in the knowledge that you have taste. We’ve brewed a tasty little pale ale a bit on the naughty side at 5.2%. We’ve added a hint of wheat for more body and thrown in bag loads of American hops for that fruity, piney zing.

Michael and Stephen from Moshi Moshi were joined by Charles from Slow Club (one of the label’s artists) for a trip round our brewery and a chance to stick their heads in sacks of hops and malt to see what they liked. Charles, it turns out, likes sticking his head in empty fermentation tanks and recording the echo of his voice as well, so look out for that on their next album, which, if this is anything to go by, will be an absolute belter.

At BrewDog we are keen to support the best independent arts and music talent and with that in mind Moshi Moshi Records was a great name to create this beer with. Their current and previous roster includes acts as varied and talented as Fimber Bravo, Bloc party, Lykke Li, Disclosure, The Wave Pictures and Hot Chip.

A celebration of all things great about the artisanal scene of independent craftsmen of all things from records to beer, this is a limited edition run with a label based on a screen print from Paul Rafferty, so get it while it’s hot!

The beer will be on sale in bars soon and online from today. Enjoy this beer with your favourite record whatever that may be. Unless it’s Mr Blobby. In which case you probably shouldn’t be trusted to drink beer. Or tie your own shoe laces.

We strongly recommend drinking this beer to this soundtrack, but you may want to take longer than the 6 minutes the track lasts…
