BEATNIK BREWING COLLECTIVE HAS ARRIVED!
Back in November, we introduced the idea of the Nomad Brewing Collective. This is Equity for Punks generously swirled into #Mashtag, served with a belt-loosening side of gypsy brewing. Two months have since passed, and following a change of name (we found out there already was a brewery called Nomad!) we are ready to dish up the ultimate in crowd-sourced shareholder beermaking!
Beatnik Brewing Collective has landed!
BrewDog’s shareholders are our heart and soul; the very core of our business. So Beatnik is solely for them. Our Equity Punks will have full and complete control over all aspects of the beer – its design, creation, look, feel, top speed, special move – the whole lot.
Starting on Monday 26th January, each day for five days our shareholders will be voting on a specific part of the first beer to be created by Beatnik.
Here’s the deal, and how it will work in more detail:
Being an Equity Punk-led process, all decisions will be thrashed out, debated and curated on the Equity for Punks forum. Kicking off on Monday the 26th of January, each day one aspect of the beer will be decided upon by our shareholders as per the traditional way of the democratically-deduced #Mashtag.
But in a slight departure to the social media-storm that is #MashTag, we are going full-on in terms of the first crowd-sourced step. You know how the initial #Mashtag choice is traditionally an offering of three styles to be voted on? Not with Beatnik Brewing Collective! If it’s not too cheesy a supposition, we like to think our investors are the ultimate connoisseurs of style – so in that regard, for this beer, our shareholders will decide what those three initial style options will be!
Yes – it can be any style. Shareholders should hit up the EFP forum and suggest their ideal beer styles to vote on in this custom-made thread opened up today. We'll tally up the options and open the voting on Monday with the top three shareholder suggestions.
For the rest of next week, the items on Beatnik’s conceptual beermaking agenda are as follows:-
Monday 26th – Beer Style
Tuesday 27th – Malt Bill & ABV
Wednesday 28th – Hops & Bitterness
Thursday 29th – A Special Twist!
Friday 30th – Sunday 1st Feb – Label & Beer Name
How does that grab you?
Oh! There is one other thing.
Given the fact that this beer will have been hand-picked in its entirety by our Equity for Punk investors, it’s only right that the final product will be available exclusively* to them. You’ll need to be a card-carrying Equity Punk to grab a bottle of this beer online or in our bars.
*Who you then share it with, of course, is your business…

BIRTHDAY BEERS
It’s not an understatement – in fact, we’re proud to admit it – that we love our Equity Punks. It’s down to each and every one of you that we’re able to get up in the morning and flick the switch on our brewhouse, or turn the key to open up our bars for the day. None of it would have been possible without you having faith in us.
So whilst Beatnik Brewing Collective champions our incredible investors as a group, we thought that we needed an additional way to say thank-you in person, to each and every one of you individually.
Because we would never have been able to even contemplate a network of BrewDog bars without the support of our shareholders (we would probably still be selling beer at farmers’ markets every other Saturday), we have decided to unleash another awesome new perk.
How about we buy you a beer on your birthday?
Yes, it’s the BrewDog Birthday Beer Bonanza! If you’re an Equity Punk, starting on the 1st of February you’ll be able to enjoy a free standard measure of any BrewDog beer on draught on your special day (i.e. pint of Punk, two-thirds of Jackhammer – whatever your hoppy poison.).
All you have to do is turn up to one of our bars and above your one-year older head be waving your EFP card together with appropriate ID (one in either hand, maybe?). Let us know what beer you’d like, and it’s on us. So, blow out those candles and come on down; we can’t wait to wish many happy returns to each and every one of our investors!
