Crash landing amidst a whirl of controversy, the day when UK craft beer is made available in a can has finally arrived thanks to our 5.6% Punk IPA whose aluminium armour will give us a further foothold on the craft beer revolution.
Leaving out the pasteurisation process commonly associated with those fizzy, yellow so-called ‘beers’, we’ve made sure to lightly filter our canned craft beer to exactly the same spec as our kegged and bottled brews.
In fact Punk in a can boasts as much BrewDog bite as our other beers, just served in a receptacle that’s easier to store, transport and recycle.
Most of all though, Punk’s transition to cans is yet another part of challenging perceptions to beer – no longer does ‘can’ have to scream tasteless, insipid swill.
Canned craft beers are the next phase in a completely redefined, re-imagined UK beer scene.
You're just one ringpull away from joining it.

The canning run was yesterday at Daniel Thwaites. I went down to supervise it, here are some of the photos!

Cans feeding down to the rotary filler. 700 cans per minute.

Cans make their way along the conveyer system.

With the first ever case of Punk IPA cans as they come off the line. Do you think they would let me keep the high visibility vest?

I would agree that the packaging needs to change though. It isn't truly punk. Someone suggested new romantic IPA. I like that.

Not a bad beer at all, but tropical overtones and way less aggressiveness to the point where there's nothing "punk" about it. It's trying to be exactly what the notes on the bottle say it isn't.
Used to be my favorite casual drinking beer, and the one I used to introduce people to BrewDog. Now I guess they'll have to go straight to Hardcore IPA. So please start shipping more of those to Denmark. ;-)

Just wondered, what retailers will be stocking the beer? I'm going to place an order online but would be nice to be able to pick up some cans spur of the moment. I live in Leeds so outlets near there, possibly morrisons? they stock your IPA in bottles at the moment.

If you are looking for ideas for the video of the destruction of the amnesty cans I can put you in touch with someone who owns a steam roller. He needs very little encouragement to get steaming usually.
