Day of Pigs: Tim Anderson is Back as Masterchef hits Musa

Trotter along to Musa Aberdeen on Wednesday, the 11th of April to see Masterchef champion Tim Anderson get all ham-fisted over a 7-course menu that that gives star billing to pork. By way of Scotland, Japan, and -of course - BEER.

Tim, masterchef runner-up Tom Whitaker and John Jones of Yatai are evicting Musa chefs John and Dave from their kitchen for one unmissable evening. They've curated a killer menu of genre-bending dishes to pair with Brewdog brews that'll show even the most stubborn wine-swilling stalwart that food and beer pairing is hardly hogwash. With the aid of these culinary innovators, we press boldly ahead with our quest to elevate beer's cultural profile and underline its status as a worthy companion to all manner of food, from fine dining to fish fingers. Its appeal knows no limits and we won't relent until it's universally respected for its incomparable versatility.

Most noble fights are often uphill battles and this is no exception. We're consequetly thrilled when we can enlist expert help from the likes of Tim, whose talent in uniting unexpected flavours in his dishes matches so well with our own efforts to brew the boldest, most flavoursome beers from ingredients that continually redefine and challenge what beer is thought to be able to achieve. We eschew categories with our drinks just as Tim does with his food. On this occasion, the two domains are unified and play to each others'strengths in new and previously unseen ways. We're all about breaking the mold - and then smashing the leftover pieces to dust.

7 courses of pork, you cry? Is that a bit much? Answer: NO. Fret not, your plates and palates are in expert hands and Tim will demonstrate pork's powers as a supermeat capable of withstanding 7 fierce rounds of the most artful culinary experimentation - even for dessert! Tim and his team are at the very top of their game and will hardly make a pig's ear of the event - even if they happen to be serving a few of them on the night.

Here's an idea of what you can expect to grace your table:

Crispy Prawns, Gochujang Mayo

Smoked Pork Liver Parfait, Bacon Bread and Relish

Pork Fillet Maki

Watermelon and Peanut Salad with Crispy Pigs Ears

Individual Bacon and Langoustine Stargazy Pie, Sea Greens, Pickled Apples

Praline Pig Tails, Apple and Fennel Sorbet

Bourbon Tarte Tatin, Malted Miso Ice Cream, Walnut and Crackling

Last time he visited, Tim presented the beer he made with us almost a year ago. Mr Squirrel is a black lager brewed entirely with Sorachi Ace hops from Japan and seasoned with miso. After 300 days in bourbon barrels, gracefully ageing on a bed of apples and toasted walnuts, Mr Squirrel has matured to perfection and Musa Bernard will be on hand to help pour Tim's finished creation. Most dishes will be paired with awesome Brewdog brews, but expect a guest appearance from Japanese craft superstars Hitachino Nest for at least one of the courses.

Martin Dickie plans to sport pigtails on the night and will offer hugs to anyone who joins him. Style yourselves accordingly. We can't wait to see you there.

Need to know:

Tickets are £70 per head and sold on a first come first served basis. Call Musa to reserve your place on 01224 571 771. Do it immediately or miss out and be disappointed in yourself for life. It's going to be that good.
