Yet they don’t just come into their own on long summer evenings, watching the sun slip past the city skyline. When the weather takes a turn for the worse, cocktails can be the perfect thing to lift the spirits – because they engage the senses. Zappy, enlivening combinations bring you back to a sunnier frame of mind, whereas bold, punchy flavours can make for the ideal winter warmer.

Our unsecret secret cocktail bar beneath BrewDog Shoreditch, Underdog, is an ideal place to put some feeling back into the fingers and toes, whilst enjoying effortlessly constructed treats from our supremely talented mixologists behind the bar. Here’s just a small taster of the brand new beer cocktails on offer right now – head along to Underdog, descend the steps, and turn your back on that wintry weather outside!

RoxXanne

If you’re after that aforementioned winter warmer – you need to be introduced to RoxXanne. Spiced pomegranate-infused gin and a Five AM Red Ale Grenadine will bring a tingle of heat, whereas the Apple Jack and lemon juice give a refreshing hit of citrus. With the cocktail topped off with a Five AM reduction, it’s the ideal way to forget about the frustrations of the season.

Ella Fizzgerald

Miller's Westbourne Strength gin shaken with cream, raspberry & hibiscus syrup, lemon & lime juice, sugar syrup, egg white and orange blossom water make for a vibrant combination. When topped off with a dash of Dead Pony Pale Ale, the light and zingy nature couples with a little indulgence from the cream to make for the ultimate after dinner drink.

Yo Quiero Punks

Ilegal Joven Mezcal is the main contributor here, complemented with herbal chartreuse and deep red wine richness from Cocchi Chinato Barolo. A Punk IPA, ginger and cinnamon cordial, blended with orange, pink grapefruit, lime and lemon juices brings a bitter, fruity bite. Topped with Punk IPA, Yo Quiero has a summery feel to wash away those inevitable winter blues.

Five Shades of Squash

This cocktail will truly warm the proverbial cockles - Wild Turkey 101 alongside a butternut squash butter (spiced with ginger, orange peel, cloves and cinnamon) is mixed with honey liqueur, a dash of Pedro Jimenez sherry and a generous glug of Five AM Red Ale, before harmoniously being topped with an almond foam. Delightful!

One Flew Over

This is for the quick hit of coffee but mixed with some special treats. Dark rum, dark chocolate liqueur and Amer Picon Bierre blend perfectly with a Cocoa Psycho and cranberry reduction.
