London Beer City and BrewDog

London Beer City and BrewDog

This August sees the first ever London Beer City week; a city-wide event promoting craft beer in the Capital. Running from 9th -16th August, London will play host to hundreds of events, as breweries and bars team together to create a week of kick ass beery events. Our buddy Will Hawkes, who's organised the event, says “The point of the festival is to put great beer within reach of every Londoner. London’s historic brewing and beer-drinking tradition has been revived over the past few years – we want to celebrate that.”

I'll drink to that!

With three bars in the city, (and BrewDog Clapham Junction set to launch next week...! Keep an eye out for more news here!) our London teams have been working their socks off to bring the people of the Big Smoke some awesome beery fun times.

Here’s the lowdown on what’s happening in the BrewDog Bars.

BrewDog Camden

BrewBrunch – After the awesome success of our inaugural Brew Brunch, we thought London Beer City was the perfect excuse to rock a second session! So come by the bar before we even open to the public and enjoy our hopped-up, three course beer and brunch food pairing featuring Climpson & Sons amazing cold brew coffee! (Sunday 10th  August, 11am. £20 per person)

London Beer City Week Tap Takeover - For the whole of London Beer City week we'll be running nothing but the best of London breweries on our guest draught board, with some awesome rare kegs thrown into the mix. Check us out on twitter for updates through the week!

BrewDog Shoreditch

Can-do, BBQ and Brunch - What's more fashionable than beer in cans and BBQ food? Very little, with the possible exception of pork scratchings (the revival startshere). Get yourself down to BrewDog Shoreditch for all the can and BBQ fun you can handle. (Saturday 9th August, 12pm)

Five Points Meet the Brewer - If you haven't tried any of Five Points' fantastic beers, this is the perfect opportunity to do so. In the opinion of most educated observers, they've rapidly become one of the best breweries in the city - and there are a lot of good breweries in the city these days. You'll also get to hear from the brewer, Greg Hobbs, and maybe chat to him too. (Tuesday 12th August, 7pm)

Hops & Brass - IPA is the beer that has driven the craft-beer revolution, which is why this event - an IPA tap takeover with entertainment provided by the New York Brass Band - is likely to be so popular. Don't expect Abide With Me from the NYBB, either - it's more likely to be something by Daft Punk, grandad. (Saturday 16th & Sunday 17th August, 12pm.)

East London Bike Crawl  - Join us on two wheels to visit breweries and craft beer pubs around East London, tasting beer and making new friends with like-minded people. The  Crawl will be led by Sienna (Certified Cicerone©) and Andy, our very own beer and bike enthusiasts!
To join us, there will be charge of a small fee (£5), which includes a guided tasting and a can of Punk IPA. You can pre-book your place in our bar. (Saturday 16th August, 2pm)

BrewDog Shepherd's Bush

Live Brewday - The BrewDog pilot kit will be making its way down to the bar for a one-off brewday. All are welcome to come along and join in, and for those that do they can pick up some free bottles of the beer when it’s ready in September. (Saturday 9th August, 12pm.)

Rock the Brunch - You've heard about beer and food matching. You may even have heard about beer and music matching ... but beer, food and music matching? It exists. BrewDog Shepherd's Bush are laying on five courses, each with a beer match and a music match. (Sunday 10th August, 12pm. £25 book your tickets here)

Best of British Week – A week-long celebration of the best British craft brewers, which means plenty of Magic Rock, Buxton, Beavertown, The Kernel, Brodie's, Wild Beer, Summer Wine and plenty of others. (Monday 11th- Sunday 17th August)

UK Beer Tasting with James Watt – Our Captain will be at BrewDog Shepherds Bush for the evening talking all things UK craft beer, and tasting some from our favourite brewers. (Monday 11th August, 7pm. £15 buy tickets here)

Tasting Beer with Melissa Cole - Love beer but want to find out more from a genuine, gold-plated expert? Look no further. Melissa Cole, who knows more about beer than is generally thought healthy, will take you through a number of different styles, explaining what to look out for. There'll also be some off-flavour tasting, so you know when things aren't right. (Wednesday 13th August, 7pm. £18 buy tickets here)

Well worth a trip to the city if you're not a local! See you next week?
