Meet the Equity for Punks Shareholders

With our latest Equity Punk offer steam rolling along, we figured we'd pop down to our local BrewDog Bar and chat to some of the people who have pledged their allegiance and joined us in our quest to put the craftsmanship & flavour back into people’s beer glasses. Indulging in a glass of quality craft beer, these Equity Punks are just a snapshot of the amazing people who make up our shareholder community.

Lauren and RobMeet Rob and Lauren, this father-daughter duo’s involvement in Equity for Punks spans two offerings. Rob first found out about BrewDog when teaching business and entrepreneurship at the business school. Back in the early days Martin Dickie popped in to give a talk and Rob was immediately intrigued, “I actually did a case study on BrewDog as a felt that it was a vibrant story worth sharing. Any company that can make such a success of it when the economy is in such a state is admirable, the fact that they have continued to expand in the manner they have is exciting. I bought shares in EFPII and am proud to be an investor. It’s simply a bonus that I love the beer!”

Lauren recalls her first visit to BrewDog Aberdeen as a pretty life changing event; “I never understood the whole concept of beer, I was a die-hard vodka/cocktail girl. One sip of Punk IPA completely changed that; I’m proud to say I’m a beer snob now! BrewDog has changed the image of beer, making it more open and for everyone now. I felt such a zen when I finally bought my own shares just the other week. It’s so amazing to be a part of something which is so clearly taking off, and I can't wait until the next AGM!"

Calvin

Aberdeen local’s will know Calvin as one of our stellar bar staff, but may not know that he was an investor before he started working at our flagship.

"I first discovered BrewDog in 2009 when I saw James and Martin drinking Punk IPA and Speedball from brown paper bags in Princes Street Gardens. This was on 'Oz and James Drink to Britain' and I remember being very intrigued.  In April 2011 I was fortunate enough to attend a beer tasting hosted by Mark (now manager of BrewDog Shoreditch). The extra understanding of the beers and the company that I gained during the tasting was really inspiring - it was definitely a case of well and truly catching the craft beer bug.  When Equity for Punks became available I had no hesitation in investing. What better way to start your portfolio than with shares in the fastest growing food and drinks company in the UK?

Since my investment I have actually started working in the Aberdeen bar, and I've loved every second. It is grwat to meet like minded beer enthusiasts every day? Well, converting a liquid cardboard drinker into a craft beer fanatic - that's why I love beer schools so much. 

Ultimately though, it just comes down to the beer - and long may the crazy world of BrewDog's boundary pushing brews continue."

Scott and Fiona
Scott and Fiona both invested in EFPII and have increased their shareholding in our latest offering. Avid craft beer fans, we caught them on the night of Scott's cousin's 18th birthday and they were en route to the party having just purchased him a BrewDog share. As Scott explains;

"I invested in EFP2 (and again in EFP3) primarily because I liked the beer, and the Aberdeen Bar was a cool place to hang out with my friends - I also ended up meeting the woman I love at the bar, so I've got some of the Aberdeen staff at the time to thank for their hand in that! But, seriously, I like how James & Martin talk passionately about what they do. If I'm going to give my money to people to help build a business, it's going to be to people who actually give a shit about their customers, making quality products and not just about maximizing profit margins.

It is only beer, but its the principle behind it I like. I bought shares for my cousin's 18th because I thought it was a great way to introduce a young guy to decent beer right at the start! What better way to celebrate (responsible) legal drinking and being able to hold shares in a company by owning shares in BrewDog?!

For me, being an Equity Punk is about the feeling like you are actually a part of what's going on - through things like events at the brewery, shareholder discounts and not to mention the mighty AGM! Customer engagement and loyalty are much more valuable things to have than just our money, and it feels like BrewDog really gets that."
