New killer cocktails from Underdog

Our super-top-secret-but-not-really beer cocktail bar in the basement of BrewDog Shoreditch serves up some of the most inventive, delicious beer cocktails in London. We're biased, sure, but we're not kidding, these guys really know how to muddle a beery take on a martini!

We headed down to check out what's hitting the bar for their winter menu, here is just a tiny taster of what to expect from our new mixology maestro, Wayne...

Blood on whose hands

Quite simply this is a Bloody Mary for beer fans. Henderson’s Gentleman's relish is used in place of Lea & Perrins, which is Wayne's own personal nod to Sheffield, Henderson's is a pretty awesome little company making a very tasty vegetarian Worcester sauce. In Wayne's words, "It’s proper mint!"  In addition, the house-smoked tomato sauce in this drink offers up a subtle winter warmth for this revival classic. Yamazaki and Hardcore IPA balance out with sweet and peaty tastes complimenting the remaining spiciness.

Jam Punked Breakfast

According to Wayne, "This is a truly special breakfast martini. The star of the show is the gin and of course the home made Punk marmalade. This one is for those who enjoy a strong drink with a hint of bitter sweetness!"

One Night Stand

"This drink is based on the classic Clover Club. It is in essence a gin sour. Lavender and raspberry match wonderfully with the 5am Saint's deep amber flavour. Tanqueray’s leading botanicals of angelica root and coriander work beautifully with the lavender and raspberry elements contained in the sour shrub.

This drink offers a subtle velvet finish with a hint of tartness and sweetness of raspberry. Don’t be fooled by the look of this drink, its fun but packs a punch!"

A Moment of Calm

Ever had a Ramos Gin Fizz? Well if you liked that, you will love this. "Deceptively light, zesty and refreshing, this is one helluva beer cocktail. The Fake Lager adds dryness, which is countered with the addition of dried lemon, orange and lime peel and a touch of dry hibiscus in the making of the syrup/reduction."

Skeleton Derby

This is UnderDog's version of the classic Kentucky cocktail, The Mint Julep. "Traditionally a summer drink, this isn't out of place on a cold winter's night. The warmth and sweetness of the macerated cranberries, bourbon and cranberry syrup match up incredibly with the addition of Dead Pony Club.  Full of tantalising fruit flavours, this will get your taste buds working overtime. Dangerously easy to drink, you can't drink just one!"

Flip AB(14)Out

AB:14, from our Abstrakt series, is an oak aged Imperial weizenbock . "The beer boasts a big, bold mouth feel backed by some powerful banana and classic weizen notes. Think of the ultimate in banoffee pie and you're on the right track. We've used AB14 in this cocktail as  a popcorn infused liquorice reduction...naturally. These rich, bold flavours are backed superbly by the Cardenal Cisneros PX sherry (one of the best in its field) which brings it all together."
