Say Hi To Sarah
Leading the craft beer revolution...online
We’re sure you know this by now, but the best place to dive straight into the thick of the BrewDog action – other than the mash tun itself – is our blog (that’s right, you’re reading it!) or our internet profiles.
There’s no question that online is how you scamps liked to interact with us – whether it’s sending us pictures of the beers that are rocking your world or letting us know when we screwed up; you’re following us in your tens of thousands and are as hungry to hear from us as we are to hear from you.
So, we decided to kick start 2013 by creating a pretty awesome new job role, one that involved talking about beer, penguins and hops on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest and beyond.
It’s a tough job but someone's got to do it and that person is our newest recruit, Sarah. We’ll let her explain a bit more about what it’s like to get paid to chat about beer on Facebook all day:
“My role is, as with most BrewDog scamps, very broad! My main role is managing all of the BrewDog social media profiles and it’s ace to be able to share and interact with our fans on a global scale as well as acting as a window to the inner workings of BrewDog for fans and followers.
"I also work closely with our bars to ensure we're we communicate online, both to engage with our customers but also to let you know what beers we have available and exciting things you can get involved with. Remember to show your support and follow your local BrewDog bar!
“On top of this I also help organise kickass events and am constantly looking for amazing new opportunities for us to get involved with. Oh, and for all the merch lovers out there I’m also co-ordinating merchandise so keep an eye out for some awesome new shirts and other stuff coming your way soon.”
OK, so we may have told a porky. Sarah isn’t completely new to the BrewDog team, in fact Sarah used to work for Manifest – a London-based PR agency that lets the papers know whenever we’ve done something weird, again.
When I first heard about BrewDog, I started researching the company and quickly realised what an exciting, unique brand BrewDog is. Then I tasted the beer and fell for it completely, wasting no time in signing myself up for the craft beer revolution!
“My favourite BrewDog moment has to be the World’s Smallest Protest, which aimed to change age-old legislation regarding beer serving sizes. It was pretty awesome and proved the sort of law-changing ideas BrewDog goes for."
Sarah now has her hands full engaging with craft beer drinkers over ten channels; each looking to reach out and engage with people along their craft beer journey and connect drinkers to the brewery. We want to shorten the distance as much as possible between our team and the people who drink our beers.
“Can I just say to the community of people following BrewDog online – you absolutely rock my world! From sending us photos of you enjoying our beers in very enviable locations, telling us what kinds of beers you have lined up for the weekend and also not being afraid to complain if we screw up – I love that, and I love you.
“For us, the internet is a great route for people to find out more and get knowledgeable about craft beer. Our #BrewPix for example, show how we brew beer, what our bars look like, who our people are and what they are up to. It creates a direct link between us and our fans, followers and customers. They can tweet us or message us or post something on our wall and immediately connect with BrewDog, which rocks for them and us!"
One month in and it already sounds like to say Sarah has been pretty busy is an understatement. So how would BrewDog’s first lady of Facebook sum up her first month on the job?
“It has been a mental first month, and I’ve loved every second! I’m based in London but have been to the brewery loads of times so I’ve got stuck in up to my elbows in hops, I’ve visited Sweden to represent BrewDog on a Punk IPA bar with our Swedish importers, I’ve even accepted an award on behalf of the business. It’s been insane and I can’t wait to see what BrewDog throws at me next!”
Want to throw something at Sarah, like a question, query or a pic of you enjoying a brew wherever you might be? Simply hop onto any one of our social media channels and say hi!
