DOG DAYS

DOG DAYS

Here at BrewDog, we care about many things but have two main focuses above all others – our beer and our people. And over the years we have noticed that our people also care about many things but have two main focuses above all others – our beer and their dogs. We totally get that. That’s why we let them bring their four-legged friends to work at BrewDog, and why we are now going one better with the latest awesome – or should that be pawesome – staff perk.

We are introducing Puppy Parental Leave across our company.

Yes, having dogs in our offices makes everyone else more chilled and relaxed – but we know only too well that having a new arrival – whether a mewling pup or unsettled rescue dog – can be stressful for human and hound both. So we are becoming the first in our industry to give our staff a working week’s leave on us to help settle a new furry family member into their home.

Ever since Bracken, the original Brew Dog, first watched James and Martin mash in batch number one of Punk IPA back in 2007 dogs have been central to our way of life. Puppy Parental Leave will support nervy canines and their owners alike in those all-important first few days of the greatest relationship a person can have (children excepted – more on them later).

This brand new pooch-based perk will be available to all BrewDog crewmembers across the globe, including those joining our ship Stateside as part of BrewDog Columbus. We’re not aware of any other American company giving a week’s leave to their staff to help build the bond between them and their dog – but then few other companies have four-legged friends at their centre as we do.

Alongside this, we are also proud to be a Living Wage employer and offer sabbaticals for our crew as well as sharing 10% of the annual profits of our company between everyone who made it happen. Plus we embrace beer knowledge with the highest number of Cicerone-trained staff of any company in the world – and we also offer enhanced maternity and paternity pay for two-legged arrivals!

These benefits are all part of us heading towards one simple aim – to be the best company to work for, ever. Whether man, woman or pup we encourage all members of our family to support and look out for one another, and this also applies to those of you who visit our network of BrewDog Bars. Every single one is dog-friendly, so as our staff don’t have to leave their faithful friends behind you don’t need to either. How does that sound?

I never really used to bother drinking beer until Brewdog came along.

Now I drink beer nearly everyday. I particularly like the high percentage beer you sell - it's quite a bit more expensive, but it tastes so good.

You guys have made it cool to drink alcohol again.... thank god :D

Budapest - It does also apply to strays and rescue dogs, not just puppies! :)
BUDAPEST 27.02.2017 @ 12:46pm
I would change the rules a little bit. I would support those who take in stray dogs or dogs from shelters. People keep on buying expensive dogs while we have more and more of them in shelters looking for a loving home.

I will include a post about your pawternity leave policy on my blog and if you ever expand into New Zealand, I would love to be your company's in-house dog masseuse and to work for you. Thanks for supporting dog parents.

Thank you for the love & respect you've given man's best friend or as I call our them , " angles in fur coats". There's finally a place in the USA where I can take my dog out for the evening and it's practically in my back yard. Butters & I will certainly be regulars.

What a wonderful idea. Being a strong supporter of Pozega dogs a wonderful rescue in Serbia run by 2 young ladies who volunteer this is so important when adopt a rescue. Ours come from the most horrendous kill shelters cruelty is beyond belief but all of adopted and fostered dogs are remarkable happy trusting souls even after what humans have done to them. Thank you for raising rescue awareness.
Carmen -Perú 21.02.2017 @ 4:38pm
Hello, I'm Carmen from Peru. I adopted a Pithorse breed dog. Of three months of age. They abandoned him in a tree near my parents' house. He is blind from birth, with glaucoma. His name is "Chocolate." At home he plays a lot, when they visit me, they do not think he's blind.
BRAVO !!!! POR USTEDES!!!

What about people that get dogs from Breeders who are small business owners and are responsibly breeding and raising dogs? It has to be a rescue?
BrewDog Rich 20.02.2017 @ 11:59am
Nic - We offer enhanced maternity and paternity leave for all our employees - those looking after two-legged arrivals are also well catered for!

David - Our Puppy Leave policy also includes rescue dogs :)
Nic 19.02.2017 @ 3:12pm
Tell us what your maternity leave is for your male and female employees and maybe I'll be impressed ...
David 19.02.2017 @ 1:59pm
This is nice but how about focusing some on the plight of all the dogs that are dumped by people who get tired of them or decide they can't take care of them. What about giving employees that take in a stray or adopt from a shelter two weeks off? Now, I'd drink to that!
Monica 18.02.2017 @ 10:49pm
I hope to see others follow in your footsteps!!

What a fantastic idea! My poor little Staffie pup was already upset enough at leaving his mum and coming to a new house at the tender age of 8 weeks. If I'd have had the chance to spend time with him to help him settle in instead of carting him to my poor mum's house every morning before work it would have been far easier on all concerned. Well done Brewdog!
Suzanne 17.02.2017 @ 3:59pm
BrewDog you are ACE and awesomely pawsome. I have a request from a dear friend who has just moved to Philadelphia, and is dead keen for you to open a brewery there so she can apply to work with you BrewDog beer gods. Please make it so. It would make her life somewhat more bearable in these politically surreal times. (Where shall I send the brown envelope stuffed with cash?)
Maria Tornqvist 16.02.2017 @ 11:20pm
Love you guys! What an amazing gesture, and concept, to have Puppy Leave! I will be spreading the word on you guys! Love it love it love it! SKAL!

JR - We have seven bars in London at the moment; Camden, Clapham Junction, Clerkenwell, Homerton, Shepherd's Bush, Shoreditch and Soho > https://www.brewdog.com/bars/uk < all are dog friendly :)
JR 16.02.2017 @ 5:05pm
Brilliant. Where are your properties/pubs in London as I will be using them. x
JR 16.02.2017 @ 5:04pm
Fantastic. Your company is the face of the future. I love your policy and would actively support your products because of that. You have it so right. A beacon in the depressing world of cosumerism and "celebreties". You are so real, in a world I would like to inhabit.
Carl 16.02.2017 @ 5:02pm
Absolutely "Pawsome".
What a beer refreshing change to see there's at least one employer out there who genuinely understands the value of investing in its employees.
Not just their welfare but their happiness also.
Now mines a pint of BrewDog!

Very inspiring, I work with companies to get them to understand how important their employees are and that perks are not necessarily monetary. May I use Brewdog as an example of forward thinking and how to really get the best from their "crews:?
Justin 14.02.2017 @ 8:21pm
Brilliant idea - I love creative, forward thinking companies that really consider their staff! We have a dog friendly office and love the atmosphere it creates!
BrewDog Rich 14.02.2017 @ 9:01am
Dave/Julie - We are always looking for great people (whether they bring their dog with them or not) - check out our latest vacancies here >> https://www.brewdog.com/about/work-for-brewdog
Dave Addison 14.02.2017 @ 8:45am
What a great ethos. I personally love seeing dogs in pubs... especially relaxed pooches.
I applaud Brew Dog's view on our canine friends... should push for an Open Brew Doggies themed event each year... Seriously...
Oh... any jobs going at Brew Dog?
Keep up the great promo work you are doining. It works. Dave Addison... Brylach, Moray.
Gwen 13.02.2017 @ 11:24pm
Woof! (from Poppy the Poodle) and a Brilliant! (from me the human).
Certainly a dog's life at Brew Dog...
Karen 13.02.2017 @ 10:35pm
One more reason to love you guys and your company. Hope to see you in Columbus soon!
Rick Miller (not millet) 13.02.2017 @ 9:18pm
Just read the complete article and even more good news that the bars are dog friendly. We were going to bring our dog on our next trip to Columbus and we found a dog freindly hotel but figured we'd have to leave her there while we visited BrewDogs.
Zizzi the Cat 13.02.2017 @ 7:00pm
This is the reason Brewdog is number 1.

Even cats love Brewdog.

Meow!

I've got my 2 dogs up in Edinburgh with me whilst the other half is away to Germany with work. Oh. I'm the Boss so I take them to work. Yep they love the 3 mile work in and back everyday. But I'm going to pop into Brewdog tomorrow as it's my Anniversary and I have just found out they don't mind dogs coming in. Pint of New England please.

I wish more employers were like Brewdog ! I don't have kids but have 3 fur kids now after adopting one from Spain in October. I had to take a weeks holiday to settle him in so pawternity would have been ideal option !! Btw any jobs going ?? ????????????????
