Here at BrewDog, we are passionate about two important things – our beer and our people. By 2020 we want to be the best company to work for in the UK and we are already sailing towards this target with our amazing employee benefits. Take a look below at what is available to our crew:
The Living Wage
We know how hard our team work to continue our mission, so in 2014 BrewDog became a Living Wage Employer. Updated with new rates each year, this commitment is just one of the ways in which we recognise the importance of our BrewDog crewmembers.
Enhanced maternity and paternity
The pattering of tiny feet is a life-changing sound. To help out, we offer enhanced maternity and paternity pay packages for those with new arrivals or who adopt. Packages consists of 12 weeks full pay, followed by 12 weeks half pay for enhanced shared parental and maternity leave, or 2 weeks full pay for enhanced paternity pay. We’ll pay any additional leave at statutory rate.
Private Health Care
To keep them fully charged and purring smoothly we also offer healthcare options for all of our amazing crewmembers. Each and every one of them. Eligible for either Private Health Care or a Health Care cash plan, we ensure that we hook our team up with a plan to keep them right. Every base covered.
To help our crew save for their futures, our Employer Pension Contribution is pretty awesome (if we do say so ourselves.) Not the sexiest thing ever but arguably one of the most important, this perk mean that when a crew member pays in 1%, BrewDog will chip in 6%. If they choose to increase their contribution, BrewDog will match this increase up to a maximum contribution of 10%.
The Unicorn Fund
This year we introduced Unicorn 2.0, where we donate 10% of our profits to charities nominated and voted for by our staff and Equity Punks. You can read more about it here.
Operated through our epic Crew Treats website is the facility to cut the cost of this childcare by saving money on Tax and National Insurance contributions (note: these are not redeemable in BrewDog Bars).
Employee Assistance Programme
Our crew have the benefit of Employee Assistance Programme, providing immediate access to confidential legal, financial and medical advice via telephone counselling service that operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year!
We know that welcoming a four-legged arrival to the family is a big commitment. Gaining trust, housetraining and working out routines take time so we have decided to make things easy by offering Puppy Leave. It’s like Parental Leave, but with more throwing of sticks. Take on a new dog (either puppy or a rescue dog) and our staff can have a week away from work to start that lifetime’s bond. We also allow dogs in our offices so they’ll never be too far away!
The benefit of life assurance is for the families of our amazing crew. If the worst should happen, life assurance is a promise to pay money directly to their beneficiaries; whether this is a spouse, children, parents or siblings, or a charity.
You don’t need a PhD in the metabolic pathways of yeast during fermentation* to work this one out from the title. All of our BrewDog staff receive a 25-50% discount on beer, food and merchandise in our BrewDog online shop and direct from any of our BrewDog bars. We want the people who work for us to have the opportunity to try as many different craft beers as possible.
*Our rocket science
Refer a Friend
Like Phone a Friend but so much better. As we continue to grow at a phenomenal pace, we’re constantly on the lookout for talented, like minded individuals to help us on our mission to make other people as passionate about great craft beer as we are – so who better to scout fresh talent for our roster than our own crew? Recommend someone for a job at BrewDog and if they get the gig we will reward their eye for recruitment with a £250 bonus when their pal starts. If they make it through their probation after three months, they will score another £250.
The Cicerone Programme is a world-leading system in beer education. We encourage all of our staff to partake, working through the four levels to aid their career, help our customers and achieve Jedi-Master levels of beery knowledge. It’s no easy ride mind, serious study is required – but we will support and incentivise them all the way. We cover all exam costs and when they pass they’ll score an annual allowance; from £600/year for becoming a Certified Beer Server to £7,200/year for passing Master Cicerone.
Education Support Fund
It’s not just Cicerone – we love that our crew want to hit the books and improve themselves. That’s why we also have a fund to aid them in quests to gain a qualification, attend training courses or anything else to help your role at BrewDog and, as a result, the company itself.
Whether they bike to work (or not) we can get our staff cruising along their nearest cycle path on a sweet two-wheeled ride. We take the hit for tax and National Insurance on it as they pay in instalments over a year. Clackers not supplied.
If someone in the team are think of doing something daft for charity, then we are totally down with that. Whether deploying their new bike in a sponsored triathlon, running a marathon dressed as a penguin or sitting in a bath of spent malt for a week for a cause we identify with, we will match your fundraising efforts up to £200!
At BrewDog, we are committed to promoting the health and wellbeing of our crew. For those based up at our HQ in Ellon, we have recently installed a brand new, state of the art, shiny employee gym. For those based in one of our other offices, remotely or in one of our bars, we offer discounts on gym memberships too!
Crew Treats Website
Our amazing benefits portal houses all information about our staff perks and how to claim them, it also is the home to another scheme involving a wide variety of discounts on the high street. Whether its money off at their favoured clothing emporium or cut-price hotel deals; there are frankly too many offers to list at the discounts part of the website. We even do offers on cinema tickets that don’t involve meerkats.
Punk to Punk
Also on Crew Treats, our staff recognition scheme; where crew can give a shout out to another member of the team by writing a nomination and giving them some money! Each crew start the year with a virtual £100 to spend, and once a quarter we pay out these nominations directly into people’s pay check, along with a letter with all the nominations they received from their fellow crew!
At many companies, you get a gold watch or impersonal voucher to mark a long service milestone, but as you’ve probably realised by making it this far through this page; we are anything but a normal place to work. So, make it to five years at BrewDog and we will reward staff with a four-week paid sabbatical, and another every five years on. At ten years’ service, we’ll also pay for you to attend the Copenhagen Beer Celebration – all expenses paid!
