#Mashtag Day 1: The Beer Style

This is beer by the people, for the people.
Here is how MashTag Works:
Every day this week we will post a blog at 12 noon offering you 3 options for various elements of the brew. You cast your votes on twitter, on facebook or on our blog.
Monday - Beer Style
Tuesday - Malt Bill & ABV
Wednesday - Hops & IBU
Thursday - Special Twist (barrel aged? Dry hopped? Belgian yeast? Addition of a pasturised mouse?)
Friday - Name
Votes need to be cast by midnight GMT. Simcoe will count the votes on his abacus and announce them the following day when we give you the next round of options.
Along the way we will be explaining the different parts of the brewing process, the importance of the different ingredients and outlining how the different decisions you make will effect the final beer.
Today you get to choose the beer style we start off with. We intentionally wanted to leave these quite broad and we will dial in the specifics of the beer as the week goes on.
So the beer styles you have to choose from are:
Brown Ale
A style which we love but have seldom brewed. This could be anything from an India Brown Ales which is a highly hopped interpretation of the style which blurs the boundaries between Brown Ale and IPA to an Imperial Brown Ale aged with oak chips.
India Pale AleMaybe our favourite beer style and the most evocative beer style of the craft beer revolution. This could end up being anything from a crisp, thirst quenching fruity session IPA loaded with aromatic dry hops to a rum barrel aged monster of an Imperial IPA. And of course anything in between.
StoutMilk Stout, Oatmeal Stout, Toasted Marshmallow Russian Imperial Stout this option will open to door to a wide range of dark, decadent beery awesomeness.
So, let us know via the blog, twitter or facebook if you want to vote for India Pale Ale, Stout or Brown Ale. We will announce the winner tomorrow then we will give you options for the malt bill and ABV for the beer of your choosing.
