ACE OF EQUINOX

ACE OF EQUINOX

It’s mid-November and another weekend is just approaching – so what better way to sit back and mull over the happenings of the week (and there have been a few) than with a new beer release! Live right now in our UK Bars and our online shop we have the final iteration of Ace of Hops. The single-shop showcase series concludes with a varietal that has been available for only a couple of years, but has already made an impact with brewers around the world.

Ace of Equinox is out now. You can buy craft beer online here

Ace of Equinox

We love the flavour profile of this particular hop – but Equinox is one we know well, as it was first used here at BrewDog before it had even been classified, and was known only by an experimental code number. Long-standing single-hop fiends out there may remember IPA is Dead EXP 366, which featured the then brand new varietal that went on to be known as HBC 366 and eventually Equinox.

Since we put pen to paper to include it as the fourth and final Ace of Hops release it has actually changed name once again – to the anagram-sounding Ekuanot. Whatever you want to call it though, Equinox is a classic hop for pale ale and has been harnessed to an amazing degree by breweries such as Sierra Nevada and the Kernel since it was first introduced back in 2014.

Ace of Equinox follows on from namesakes Simcoe, Chinook and Citra, completing our single-hopped session IPA series. Brewed at 4.5% to showcase the flavour profile of the hop in its entirety, the strength unleashes those characteristics thanks to the dry, biscuity baseline from the malt bill. Ace of Equinox is a blast of tropical sunshine for November with papaya, mango, lime and melon taking centre stage over Citra’s grapefruit and the piney heights of Chinook.

Ace of Equinox is live in our online shop now and is already pouring on draft across our network of UK BrewDog bars. For those wishing to play along at home (or while away a train journey or camping trip), our Ace of Hops series has also been made literal with an epic set of playing cards which you can also pick up in our online shop!

Let us know in the comments your tasting notes for Ace of Equinox – and just as importantly which of the Ace of Hops series you liked the best!

If it's anything as good as the others so far...it'll be a cracker!
