It is the ultimate in collaborative beermaking. Every year we invite our legendary Equity Punks up to our Ellon eco-brewery to take part in the creation of a beer they have devised. Inventing a beer in this way is just one of the benefits of being a card-carrying BrewDog Equity Punk and the day when everyone arrives at our brewery is one of the highlights of our year. Previously our shareholders have voted on each aspect of the beer in turn but this year we are shaking it up.

Equity Punks – 2018’s Beatnik beer will be decided by a Battle Royale. And anything goes.

Head to your Forum to duke it out and suggest your beer!

Even before the actual date of the brewday has been determined, we are handing everything over to our Equity Punks. We have totally changed it up. Gone are the lists of different styles from which to pick – now we are simply saying ‘We’ll Brew Anything’. We want our shareholders to suggest the actual beer they want for the 2018 Beatnik Brewing Collective release. Whatever you want.

Once we have all of the suggestions we will close the poll and will sort through them all until we have sixteen favourites. These will then be pitted against each other in a Battle Royale to determine the winner. Sudden death, knockout format. No second chances. No do-overs. Each day the sixteen will be paired off and a vote taken, until we are left with the final two beery ideas. And then our Equity Punks vote again for the victor.

The beers can be as inventive as you like. Want 2018’s Beatnik Brewing Collective beer to be a peanut butter and jelly stout? Fire it down. Think a salted lemon Hefeweizen would rock? Suggest it and if it makes the final sixteen, your fellow Equity Punks will be voting on it as part of the contest. The only caveat – the winning beer will be brewed in our main brewhouse, not the OverWorks (so suggest accordingly).

The Equity Punk who suggests the beer that ends up winning the vote of his or her peers will be sent a case of their creation when it is released – which from this year will be available to everyone, not just an Equity Punk exclusive (we know you guys who have invested in BrewDog will come up with enough stellar beer ideas to make it worthy of a general release!)

We love our Equity Punks – we wouldn’t have a brewery without them, it’s as simple as that. So when it comes to something like the Beatnik brewday, when we turn every aspect of the process over to them, we love the directions in which it takes. Head to the forum and suggest your beer by 10am on Monday 5th March, and when the Beatnik brewday takes place, you could have a truly unforgettable day in Ellon!
