For instance it could also apply to anniversaries – and here at BrewDog we think it should again. That’s because we mark another year, each year, the only way we know. The annual benchmark in our brewing history is back. Marking eleven years of BrewDog, Dog G is the perfect depiction of how far we have come and where we are heading. Proudly tracing its lineage back to the only Abstrakt to be given a second lease of life – Abstrakt AB:04 – it unleashes a new twist on this all-time classic; embracing the whiskey that won the West. Being aged in rye barrels puts an entirely new emphasis on our liquid anniversary.

An imposingly dark and captivating stout brewed with six different malts, Dog G is redolent of molasses, spiced cocoa, affogato and chocolate-covered raisins. The addition of cacao, coffee, habanero chili, muscovado sugar and rye whiskey barrel-ageing results in a hugely complex aroma and a piledriving flavour. Dog G has the richness of a stout entangled with the warming character of rye – oak, vanilla, spice and whiskey warmth.

Dog G is possibly the biggest and most evocative beer we have brewed to date – but given its significance it could be nothing less. As a combination of ingredients, ageing and a celebration of our history it lights the touchpaper for the second Decade of Dog. Drink it now, or age it for the next ten years. Either will give you a perfect reward.
