One of the cornerstones of Equity for Punks V is the amazing support we have received from our growing community throughout Europe. To celebrate the deadline in applications for BrewDog shares being extended until October 15th 2018 we wanted to do something special for our Equity Punks in ten European countries. Specifically, ten epic collaborations with breweries local to them.

Grano Giusto – BrewDog vs Birrificio Italiano

As we revealed in January we have teamed up with a collection of awesome European breweries on a series of different beers that will be launched in their country of origin for our customers there. Following the launch of our first two collaboration beers in the Netherlands and Spain, we’re keeping the ball rolling with another bellissimo launch…

Next up we have Birrificio Italiano from Lurago Marinone, located about 30 miles west of Milan. Agostino Arioli, the brewery’s founder and Head Brewer, is something of a trailblazer when it comes to the Italian craft beer scene. He set up shop way back in 1996 and has been spearheading his country’s beery revolution ever since, dedicating most of his time to brewing crisp, clean and fresh lagers with a twist.

Agostino recently joined us up in Ellon to concoct a 5.6% dark lager which we’ve called Grano Giusto. This beer features an ancient wheat variety called Grano dei Miracoli – a distinctively Italian component of the grist which contributes elegant biscuity and pumpernickel notes, topped off by supporting floral and earthy aromas garnered by an all-English hop bouquet.

According to Agostino, the craft beer movement in Italy started some 20 years ago, with Birrificio Italiano helping to spearhead the movement’s evolution. “Nowadays I feel Italy can compete worldwide in terms of quality, because of two different factors,” the brewery’s founder said. “The first is the absolute freedom to experiment, which always occurs - in every field - where there is a lack of tradition. The second factor, which channels the potential creative energy provided by the first into high-quality products, is the Italian taste and love for all things good, tasty and beautiful.”

So that’s three down and six to go. Over the next few months we’re going to be welcoming even more talented brewers to our Ellon site to create some more small-batch beers:

· Ireland – YellowBelly

· Sweden - Brewski

· France – Brasserie de la Goutte D’Or

· Italy – Birrificio Italiano

· Germany – BRLO

· Norway – Amundsen

· Austria – Bevog

· Sweden – Brewski

· Denmark – To Øl

Our collaboration with Birrificio Italiano launches online to Equity Punks today – 11th April. Any of the super limited-quantity remaining will go on general sale online the following day before the public launch on draft and in bottle in Italy on Friday!

Speaking of which, if you’re lucky enough to be in Italy on Friday 13th April, you can catch one of three Grano Giusto launches at Birrificio Italiano’s two bars: the original Birrificio Italiano at via Castello 51, Lurago Marinone or their recently opened pub Birrificio Italiano, Milano, via Ferrante Aporti 12, Milan. The beer will be pouring from 6pm in both venues, with Agostino introducing the beer alongside BrewDog’s Daniele Buonincontri at their Milano venue. The beer will also launch at BrewDog BolognaBrewDog Roma and BrewDog Firenze on Saturday 14th April.

We love the fact that beer-fans from all corners of Europe have joined our community and invested in Equity for Punks V – it proves that when it comes to craft beer borders mean nothing with everyone sharing the same passion.
