SMALL SCREEN HERO AND QUENCH QUAKE
The turn of the calendar into September is the perfect time for hops. Admittedly, any time is the perfect time, but with August in the rear view mirror and the long hot summer giving way to autumn, now is when we cling to refreshing citrus-powered pale ales. If you feel the same way then you’re in luck, as this week we have a pair of brand new craft beers to leave you thinking of summer.
Quench Quake and Small Screen Hero are out now.
Small Screen Hero
Launched as the perfect drinking companion to our new video-on-demand service The BrewDog Network we released this one-off brew earlier in the week. For our twenty-first century revolution in television we figured the truly fitting beer style would be an American Pale Ale. These beers more than any other marked the surging craft beer revolution of the last century so are the perfect milestone marker for our new assault on the airwaves.
Small Screen Hero is 5% ABV and brewed with a mix of classic US hops (Mosaic, Simcoe, Columbus) and a pair of relatively new European varieties (Hallertauer Taurus and Hallertauer Blanc). Rolling in at 45 IBUs Small Screen Hero sings with pine, citrus zest and mango and it is available in cans online and on draft in our bars right now. Drink the beer, watch the shows and help us change the world forever.
Joining Small Screen Hero is a beer brand new to our online shop and bars today. Our masters of mixed and alternative fermentation over at the OverWorks have been rocking astonishing beer of late, so we have decided to release this kettle sour to act as the perfect wingman to their work. Rolling in at 4.6% ABV, Quench Quake is a Grapefruit and Tangerine Sour and is the beer you need in your life when you are catching those last rays of summer sunshine.
A session-strength sour, Quench Quake is a down-the-lines citrus bomb, brewed with pale malt and wheat and then hopped with the classic German aroma variety Perle. With the addition of two sharp, zesty fruits, the beer is a juicy, mouth-watering sour with biting lemon acidity and citrus aroma. If there’s a sour-hater in your life, Quench Quake could prove the perfect gateway.
Both beers are live in our online shop right now and all will also be pouring across our UK BrewDog Bars from 6pm tonight, Thursday 30th August. If you get to try any of them be sure and let us have those tasting notes!
