#SOURFEST2019 IS COMING

#SOURFEST2019 IS COMING

Mid-January. You may think that not much happens at this time of year, beer-wise – but you’d be wrong. This weekend sees the start of the biggest festival our UK BrewDog Bars have seen that is dedicated to the most fascinating, outlandish and brilliant series of styles imaginable. We are rocking Tryanuary to its foundations with a bar-wide celebratory fortnight devoted to sours.

If you want to start 2019 with a blast of refreshing, eye-opening craft beer, we have you covered.

Running between Sunday January 13th and Friday January 25th each and every UK BrewDog Bar (aside from DogTap and BrewDog Edinburgh Airport) will be pouring a range of sour beer from the greatest fermentationalists operating in the United States today. We have cold-freighted sours from the likes of Jolly Pumpkin, Crooked Stave, Upland Sour Ales, the multi award-winning Yazoo Brewing Company from Nashville and many more across the Atlantic.

Plus, in the midst of this fortnight bringing sour to the people, we also have a very special date for your (new) diaries – on Thursday January 17th from 6pm each of those bars will be running a showcase you won’t want to miss.

One of the UK’s leading exponents of alternative and mixed fermentation are the amazing Wild Beer Co – and on the 17th of January our network of UK bars will be hosting a tap takeover from the pride of Somerset. These guys started their entire brewery based on the principle of pushing the boundaries of fermentation, and we are psyched that they are pouring their sour, Bretted, barrel-aged and alternative beers for us (including at least two new releases).

As an incredible bonus, one of the sour beers that will be available at every UK BrewDog Bar taking part is Winter in the Tropics – a 5.0% ABV one-off blended sour specially created by Wild Beer Co for Sourfest. Designed to be a sour for both newbies and veterans, this beer is tasting amazing with a bright acidity of pineapple, plum and cherry and a light tartness that combines with the funk of Brettanomyces. It’s one you won’t want to miss!

So if you’ve made a resolution to try new things this year, we present to you Sourfest – a fortnight where all of our bars will be pouring sour beers every single day. And it all kicks off this coming Sunday, the 13th.

2019 starts here.
