Equity Punks in Ellon!

BEATNIK DAY 2018

Saturday just gone was a real barnstormer of a day – wall to wall tropical sunshine in Ellon greeted the hundreds of Equity Punks who made the trip to our brewery for the latest edition of the annual Beatnik Day. One of the highlights of our year; we throw open the doors and shutters of our HQ to an eager army of shareholders who get to see behind the scenes and ask questions about anything that takes their fancy. Oh, and drink super-fresh craft beer yards from where it was made!

Beatnik Day is just one of the perks of being a BrewDog Equity Punk and 2018 was the best year yet.

“What a superb weekend. Thank you to all involved in making it happen - amazing time, felt too short as I was enjoying it so much. E V E R Y O N E working for BrewDog that I met/engaged with yesterday was so nice - a very sincere thank you for all being so cool, friendly, helpful and being lovely people.” – Dan, Equity Punk.

The event began the night before with a kick-ass bottle share in BrewDog Castlegate – thirty Equity Punks in attendance having the chance to taste some of the first bottles from the OverWorks (not to mention the odd Death or Glory). The next day, the blistering Aberdeenshire weather gave over 600 people the chance to kick back outside our brewery and enjoy great beer, food and music. It was without doubt the best-attended Beatnik Day yet.

A while ago we discussed with our Equity Punks whether they wanted to help us brew the 2018 Beatnik Brewing Collective release (as in previous years) or leave us to brew the beer earlier and package it when they were here instead, so the final beer could be tasted. Guess which option they chose? One of our two Master Cicerones Rob was on hand to lead over 300 shareholders on a tutored tasting of the 8.9% ABV raspberry cheesecake imperial stout.

Other tastings and tours took place – our OverWorks crew and LoneWolf team of distillers were on hand to give guided behind the scenes looks at how we create mixed fermentation wonders and some incredible craft spirits. Products from both were on hand too, of course, as were some brand-new Fanzine beers, brews from our friends at Fierce Beer and Hawkes Cider!

This year we also threw open the climate-controlled doors of our Quality department so that our assembled Equity Punks could gain an even greater appreciation of how vital this work is. We invited our shareholders in on a sensory evaluation meeting, so that they could garner first-hand evidence of the processes we go through to ensure that every single BrewDog beer in your glass is as perfect as we can make it.

That also applies to the annual Beatnik Day – huge thanks to everyone on our crew who gave up a Saturday to help make it so awesome, and thanks to everyone who attended for rocking out with us in the sunshine. Giving people who enjoy our beer the chance to see where it happens and meet the teams responsible is a no-brainer. That’s why Equity Punks will be able to do it all again next year.

Roll on Beatnik Day 2019!

Hey @Colette.

We had a number of forum posts up for months ahead of the event as well as emailed all EFPs on our mailing list.

We can easily check your husband's Email profile, please ask him to ping us - [email protected] and we'll give this a look.

Cheers,

MK

It sure is Max. I did manage to fit some beers in when I wasn't repairing the sign on the Overworks Lego model. Four times I fixed it. There were a few clumsy EFPs there on Saturday.??

@Max - it certainly looks like the mighty Ian "Lego Man" Prise, sporting grey t-shirt and super beard. And queuing for beer .....

How do you get an invite for this? My partner is a shareholder and he didn't get invited. Thanks

Is that the mighty Ian Prise I spy there in the background? (queuing up for beer obviously) ;)
