BREWDOG VS CLOUDWATER VS BORN TO DIE

Our two latest beers are out now…

BREWDOG VS CLOUDWATER VS BORN TO DIE

February may well be the shortest month of the year, but that isn’t going to stop us from filling it with amazing craft beer every opportunity we get. This week, we have not one but two standout new releases set to make fans of India Pale Ale (and there are a few of you out there) sit up a little straighter. The first is the result of our most recent collaboration, and the second the evolution of one of our most popular beers of last year.

Our Cloudwater collab and the new 9.5% Born to Die are out now.

BrewDog vs Cloudwater

A few weeks ago we welcomed the guys from England’s hottest brewery to Ellon and partnered together to perfect one of the styles of the minute. The Vermont or New England IPA is an East Coast counterpoint to the hop bombs of the West Coast – with a huge depth of flavour they major in richer more fulfilling stone fruit flavours rather than assertive pine-led bitterness. As such, they are fascinating to brew and hugely satisfying to drink.

Our paired example runs the boards at 6.8% and we are releasing it on draft and in the quintessential US bomber – 660ml bottles, perfect for sharing or keeping to yourself. BrewDog vs Cloudwater is tropical and with flavours of peach and apricot, held in place by a redolent smoothness from the oats and wheat used in the brew. Whirlpool and dry-hopped only (with Citra and Mosaic), this is a modern style using progressive techniques and timeless hops.

Born to Die 17.03.2017

Launching alongside we have the resurrection of our born-again wonder. Since ripping up the floorboards and casting forth, Born to Die has been a huge favourite with fans of a heavy hopload – so we have decided to up the ante in every respect. Our amazing brewteam have added more Extra Pale malt to the recipe and harnessed the power of our US Ale yeast strain to the maximum. The result is our on-the-clock IPA now falls into line at 9.5% ABV.

With increased strength and body we can throw even more hops at it than ever – Born to Die is a canvas for the flavours brought by Columbus, Amarillo, Simcoe, Mosaic and Citra. We raised the game to truly make Born to Die the juiciest, most resinous Double IPA available in the UK and it sings with lime, orange, pine and cut grass from the moment the bottle is opened. And being Born to Die, that moment should come as quickly as humanly possible – it is at its best the second you pick it up.

Aside from being available now in our online shop, both of these hop-led IPA heroes will be launching on draft from the taps of our UK bars from 6pm this Thursday, 9th February! For a perfect chance to gauge just how we can deploy our favourite brewing ingredient to create two very different beers, head to your local BrewDog bar and try them side by side. As ever, once you do let us know your tasting notes in the comments below – and if there are any other styles of IPA you’d like our brewing team to turn their attentions towards – what would they be?

Thought the New England IPA was great. Same league as Beavertown's Gamma Ray with the super-refreshing tropical tones. Very impressive stuff from Brewdog & Cloudwater.

I am visiting GlasGow in April and am already looking forward to tasting the new brews at Brewdog Glasgow! Will they beat Punk IPA?

I had no idea born to die was being changed. I think I still have one of the old ones somewhere (I know, I know) so will try them side by side and see if I can pick the difference, even with the hops losing their flavour over time
