HOP SHOT

Introducing the world’s biggest smallest beer

HOP SHOT

Hops weren’t meant to be subtle. When the very best of them bring such incendiary flavours the only true reaction as brewers is to pin back the ears and go for it. At BrewDog, we have experimented with ice-distillation before; all of those moments spent perfecting and honing the science and the art have resulted in a brand new armour-piercing salvo in liquid form.

Hop Shot is a 22% ABV west coast IPA in a 110ml bottle.

And you can buy Hop Shot online now.

A fusillade of five of the finest high alpha sluggers America has given to the world – Centennial, Columbus, Simcoe, Citra and Amarillo – Hop Shot then becomes the focus of liquid alchemy. Subjecting the beer to Antarctic conditions (only not at the South Pole) causes it to freeze. Removing the ice formed concentrates and intensifies what remains until you have the perfect hop grenade.

Best enjoyed in your nearest pillbox or lead-lined bunker, Hop Shot gives aromas that belie its true character but represent its genesis. Sweet toffee from the malt and a huge lick of citrus. Grapefruit, sticky orange, sharp yuzu and resin. The flavour amplifies all of these, and keeps on going. A blistering bitterness is the fall-out; compound layers of fruit and pine cloaked in a mouth-coating fullness. The overall effect is a warming hop hit – a thunderous assault to the senses.

In days gone by, the arms race that erupted within craft brewing was a quest to top the ABV charts. These days, however, the hop is king. Irrespective of the double-digits it pulls with it, the encapsulation of the centre of a brewers’ art is now where it’s at; Double IPA is the new session beer. Well, we have crossed the Lupulin threshold and then some – and there is no going back. Not that we would want to, even if we could.

Hop Shot is the amalgamation of all that we hold true and everything we are holding out for. It is quite literally brewing distilled into its rawest sense. Nothing celebrates the hop quite like it. Hop Shot is every Clash song played at once, at full volume – taking the poster-child style of craft beer and pulling it apart before putting it back together like never before.

IPA quadrupled. Hop Shot is here. And you can buy yours today. Speaking of which, today (Thursday 22nd) is the LAST DAY for deliveries in time for Christmas - select next day delivery at checkout before 3pm to receive your beers in time for the big day...

This sounds really interesting. Watt dickie was a good attempt but I think if this is a development of that process then Hop Shot will be even better
