Over to you, European Equity Punks!

Our Equity Punks who live, work and drink amazing craft beer in Europe are an awesome community of advocates for BrewDog – we truly love them for spreading the word about us. We also celebrate their uniqueness with the ‘Hello My Name Is…’ series of beers, each one destined for a single European country, brewed with at least one iconic ingredient and featuring a home-grown name. And that got us to thinking how we can make them even more personal.

Equity Punks of Europe. We want you to name the next ‘Hello My Name Is…’ beer!

We are ready to brew nine different new ‘Hello My Name Is…’ beers, each one a double IPA infused with a single fruit carrying a strong connection to the country it will be sold in. But to bond that connection even deeper, we want BrewDog shareholders living in those countries to suggest what the name should be. So which countries will we be hooking up?

- Norway
- The Netherlands
- Spain
- Italy
- Germany
- Finland
- France
- Ireland
- Sweden

If you are a BrewDog Equity Punk living in any of those countries, let us know what your ‘Hello My Name Is…’ beer should be called by leaving a comment below this blog post. You can also hook up our social media channels and use the hashtag #HMNI! Be sure and tell us the reason for your choice – there will be plenty of competition so make it strong and personal to you and/or your nation!

Previous beers in the series have included Hello My Name is Ingrid for Sweden, Sonja for Denmark and Päivi for Finland so get thinking about a similarly iconic moniker and tell us. The name should be as special to your country as you can make it – and will indicate to your fellow countrymen and women that this beer is for all of you. So get thinking!

We know that in their search for amazing craft beer, our community of shareholders transcend the boundaries and borders of the countries in which they live. But we also know that they are still proud to be citizens of where they come from. The ‘Hello My Name Is…’ series of beers exists to showcase the individuality and personalities of the different countries of Europe, and our shareholders both.

Once we have the winning names we will let you all know in a blog post, and then get to work on the beers themselves. The nine individual double IPA recipes are being finalised as we speak, so you don’t have long to nominate a famous person, notable figure, national hero or loveable rogue from those countries. Equity Punks of Europe – it’s over to you!

Again: SOMMERSPROSSE is the perfect German name. It is a compound noun like many other German words (Sommer = summer, Sprosse = spot) therefore it is a long name (I hope it fits on the label) and, unlike other German words, e.g. 'Kraftfahrzeugsteuer', it is soft and sweet (try to say both words loud and you know what I mean). It is like a kiss on your lips if you say it to the right person. And although there is nothing like a kiss, a good Double IPA may came closest to it.

Have a nice Day

Last time around, "Hello my name is Päivi" was a huge success in Finland. I'd keep up the good work and this time target another anti-human politician in Finland, our not-so-beloved prime minister Juha Sipilä, who's also known for highly religious background and anti-alcohol views. "Hello, my name is Juha" would deliver the message promptly.

As infamous Päivi has more or less stepped to side from harassing our domestic politics, she unfortunately has almost equally air-headed successor. Sari Tanus. She hates nothing more than liberal alcohol policy and craft beer. She actually thinks that any alcohols should only be sold in goverment run monopoly shops and there's nothing worse than give small breweries the right to sell their own produce from the breweries. "Hello, my name is Sari" would also suit the next series in Finland. Alternatively you could just name the beer like "Hello, only in Finland".

Finland - Hello my name is Pekka. Named after Pekka Puska, a doctor and politician, who wants to limit and tighten up the alcohol laws in Finland. Has been loud when Finnish senate thought about raising the abv-limit on drinks sold in markets (products higher than the limit, are sold only in government owned monopoly Alko). This would be similar to previous HMNI Päivi, who also was very anti-alcohol person.

Pekka should definitely be a high ABV product!
