BrewDog Bar Pricing

We just wanted to outline and make you aware of a small price increase effective 4/10/13 in all BrewDog bars. The price increase keeps us in-line with the UK rate of inflation since we last moved our pricing in October 2012. In the last 12 months all our costs have increased, from malt to hops, from logistics to rent and especially our ongoing investment in our awesome teams, people and staff training.

The small price increase enables us to continue to invest in our bars, people and beers to ensure that we continue to be an amazing place to hang out, enjoy great, impassioned customer service and drink some of the best beers from all over the planet. It is also not a price increase across the board and we are also holding the price of some beers such as Dead Pony Club.

We have done extensive research and found that, on average, we charge around 8-11% more for a 5.4% craft beer in our bars than the other bars charge for the average 4.7% industrial beer (Carling is now 4% so they can pay less beer duty). The difference in beer duty we pay the government alone due to the higher ABV accounts for pretty much all of this price difference. And that is before you even begin to look at how much more expensive it is to brew a Punk IPA rather than a Stella!

We use over twice as much malted barley and over 40 (yes 40!) times more hops to brew our Punk IPA than the average monolithic brewer uses to make the lagers which dominate the market. All of this means our beers are insanely expensive to brew. But we don’t care about that. At all. There are plenty of beers on the market made by people trying to keep costs down and cut corners. We care about making awesome beers; beers packed with flavour, attitude and loads of our favourite hops.

We are selfish and we make the beers we want to drink ourselves, regardless of the cost of the ingredients or how arduous the process is. Everything we do is to enhance the flavour of our beers and provide an encapsulating, awesome experience for the drinker.

With a craft beer you get a lot more beer for just a little bit more money.
