FRESH FROM OHIO

FRESH FROM OHIO

Back in summer our amazing team of beer hunters did what they do best and assembled an entire chilled container of West Coast wonders from the US. Dispatched post-haste to our UK BrewDog bars, this colossal shipment of hop-filled fury went down a treat with fans of super-fresh American craft beer. So much so, in fact, that they have sent another. And the beer is live right now.

Our UK Bars are bursting with some truly epic American icons.

Yes, we have received a second palate-busting shipment of cutting edge US beer, freighted across the Atlantic in double-quick time. Six incredible breweries from the Midwest and beyond represented by forty different craft beers; bottle can and keg. All you need to do is head to your nearest UK BrewDog Bar and have at it.

And if you want to chat to some of the guys in person, you can! The team from Platform Brewing in Columbus will be hosting Meet the Brewers over the next couple of weeks – check these dates! Thursday Nov 30 – BrewDog Clerkenwell; Friday Dec 1 – BrewDog Liverpool; Sunday Dec 3 – DogHouse Merchant City; Tuesday Dec 5 – BrewDog Castlegate.

So let’s take a look at the beer list from Platform and their very special colleagues…

Against the Grain

Kentucky’s finest produce a stunning range of beers with unmistakable names and artwork. Our shipment includes special-release bombers (check their barrel-aged smoked beer collab with the amazing Freigeist) – and rare kegs of their Norwegian-style Farmhouse spectacular, Vos the Defrens.

Draft 35K – Abeer – Citra Ass Down – Jackayle – Pile of Face – The Brown Note – Vaporator – Vos the Defrens

Bottle Babyschlager (w/Freigeist) – Jackayle – Something Special

Can Bloody Show – Citra Ass Down – Pile of Face – The Brown Note

Voodoo Brewery

From Pennsylvania Voodoo are consistently one of the most under-rated breweries in the entire US (although not on RateBeer where they are 100/100). Turning their hand to every style, Hoodoo and Good Vibes are an amazing one-two IPA combo (Hoodoo features 7 hops beginning with ‘C’).

Draft Gran Met – White Magic – Wynonas Big Brown – Hoodoo IPA – Voodoo Love Child – Good Vibes

Can Gran Met – White Magic – Hoodoo IPA – Voodoo Love Child – Good Vibes – Amber Waves

Platform Beer Co.

Packing some serious heat for their events at the start of December, Ohio friends Platform brew a sensational range of different beers, with sours (check the Shanghai Noon gose) front and centre. Their Sweet Potato beer Yammy Yammy should lead to several questions to ask their brewers!

Draft Shanghai Noon – City Boy – Yammy Yammy – Cocoa Suave – BA Peach Crusher – New Cleveland – Speed Merchant

Can Smokin Fineapple - Shanghai Noon – City Boy – Yammy Yammy

Jackie O’s

Athens Ohio is home to this spectacular BrewPub who rocked our #PunkAGMUSA earlier this year. Majoring on sours and saisons, it’s bottles only (unless you want to make the return trip to Athens). Off the Beaten Path is their fascinating series of saisons brewed with heirloom varieties of barley.

Bottle Gose – Off the Beaten Path 1 – Off the Beaten Path 2 – Pockets of Sunlight – Elle – Scrip – Stainless Berliner Weisse

Melvin Brewing

Our grasp of US geography is good enough to know that Wyoming isn’t exactly in the Midwest but Melvin (tagline: if your beer is not madness, it’s not beer) are so rarely seen over here we had to include them. They are masters of the pale ale – 2x4 double IPA is a 10% ABV barnstormer.

Draft Killer Bees – Heyzeus – Hubert – Melvin IPA – 2x4 IIPA

Can Killer Bees – Heyzeus – Hubert – Melvin IPA – 2x4 IIPA

Urban Artifact

Finally we head back to Ohio for the wild beer specialists Urban Artifact, who create incredible beers from their base in an old church in the north side of Cincinnati. What could be more fitting of modern American craft brewing than Chariot – a cherry pie gose?

Draft Finn – Chariot – Whirligig – Love Letter

Can Finn – Chariot – Whirligig – Love Letter

As ever, check the social media channels of your nearest BrewDog bar right now and throughout the start of December for which of these beers appears on the taps, and when. We are psyched that our beer hunters have yet again uncovered a range of stunning US craft beer rarely seen in the UK – and if there is another part of the States you’d like them to investigate for beers, let us know in the comments below!

What, a brewery named after me? Do I get a free drink?
