HAZY JANE AND ELECTRIC INDIA

HAZY JANE AND ELECTRIC INDIA

This week we have not one, but two amazing releases as our world-leading team of brewers have worked their magic across a pair of styles perfect for the longest day and beyond into summer. There’s the return of the hopped-up saison that is one of our most popular seasonal releases and we also unleash a brand new beer, a New England IPA designed to be enjoyed as soon as possible. If you love highs of fruity juiciness without punishing bitterness, then these beers are for you.

Electric India and Hazy Jane are out now.

We kick things off with the newcomer. For months we have been working on perfecting a recipe for a Vermont-style India Pale Ale – unquestionably the style of 2017. All of the brewing trials, taste panels and pilot batches have culminated in this – say hello to Hazy Jane. A 7.2% ABV IPA canned fresh and tasting amazing, it is the pinnacle of the interplay between hops and yeast. With the same ABV as Jack Hammer but less than a third the bitterness, Hazy Jane stands a breed apart.

Brewed with pale malt, oats and wheat for a hugely smooth mouthfeel, we pushed Hazy Jane to the limit with five different US hops before fermenting out with our proprietary BrewDog yeast. This new East Coast IPA is unfiltered and comes with a thirty-day shelf life to yield intense pine and stone fruit peaks, lime zest and resinous notes – all rounded by low background bitterness.

Our Equity Punks have already been getting to grips with the beer – post-AGM we gave them the chance to sell some of their shares or retain their entire investment, with those opting for the latter able to pick up a six-pack of Hazy Jane for their continued support. The response was overwhelmingly in favour of holding onto the complete investment – five times as many, in fact – even when faced with a potential ROI of up to 2,765%.

It was an incredible indication, if any were needed, that the majority of our Equity Punks have exactly the same priorities as we do – the twin focuses of our beer, and the people who make up our community. It also underpins the fact that the unique business model of Equity for Punks is about much, much more than the simple X’s and O’s of finance. As well as being an investment it is a statement – and we love each and every one of our community for it.

Electric India

The other beer going live today is a quintessential component of long, lazy summer evenings. Electric India is a perfect hybrid, embracing the spicy undercurrents of classic Belgian saisons whilst deploying the hopload expected of an American IPA. The first of those defining flavours arrive courtesy of the addition of crushed peppercorns, honey and coriander seeds, and the second by unleashing the complementary forces of Amarillo, Nelson Sauvin and Mandarina Bavaria hops.

The result is layers of hop aroma and flavour, with elements of citrusy zest, tropical notes and a slight spicy edge that is reflected in the more pronounced spiciness from the peppercorns and saison yeast running the lines between both of these formative beer styles. Electric India is a fusion of two different worlds and a meeting of minds in the best possible way; and packaged in cans and 660ml bombers the ideal way in which to greet the arrival of the summer!

These two releases are live now in our online shop and will be pouring from the taps of our UK BrewDog Bars from tonight, Thursday 22nd June, at 6pm. Head along to your local bar and sample them both and then give us your thoughts as always in the comments below!

I have not received the email to tell me when to collect my 6 free cans from Newcastle. Do I need a voucher or do I just show my card?
Daniel Majd 22.06.2017 @ 11:39am
For us who saved our shares and don't live in the UK, how do we get our free 6-pack? It's a lot of free shipping and things like that for UK but shouldn't we outside at least get some discount?
