VOTE FOR PUNK

VOTE FOR PUNK

In case you have been living in a soundproof box for the past few weeks, you may have noticed there is a General Election looming. This Thursday in fact. We believe it is important that everyone exercises their right to vote so we are saying cheers to those who take to the voting booth on Thursday 8th June. Yes, we will be giving away a free pint of Punk IPA to voters. Just take a selfie outside your polling station and show us your snap at any UK BrewDog Bar!

We don’t claim to be affiliated with any one political persuasion, and to be honest we don’t care who you vote for. But if you do, we’ll hand you a Punk to toast your democratic contribution. We’ll be offering free Punks to all voters on Thursday 8th June, and to help everyone either celebrate or commiserate the outcome of the 2017 election, you can also redeem your free punk on Friday 9th June. If you voted by post, no worries! Just show us your confirmation email.

With general elections come countless polls, sketchy analysis and an almost guaranteed track record for inaccuracy. Election polls have become notorious for being about as good at predicting the outcome as Mystic Meg is at finding the UK’s next rollover winner.

So we think there is a way to resolve this electoral anomaly by adding beer into the equation. The candour and honesty this can illicit may well lead to a more honest exit poll. At BrewDog, we like a challenge, so we’re going to put it to the test during this General Election.

From Monday to Wednesday, we’ll be taking to the streets across the UK to ask the general public who will be getting their vote on the 8th. The twist? We only wanna know which way you’re voting after you’ve sipped a fresh can of Punk IPA. This is the world’s first beer-fuelled election poll. We’ll also conduct our research outside Polling stations up and down the country on the 8th, and will be releasing our findings with the world’s first beer-fuelled exit poll. Just call us BrewGov.

Following a series of recent political shocks in which established and recognised opinion polls failed to accurately predict the outcome, we hope to garner a more open response from those taking part by putting a can of Punk IPA in their hand. This week we will put exit polls to the test – and don’t forget on the Thursday and Friday this week to take your polling place selfies into your nearest UK BrewDog bar to receive a free pint of Punk IPA for exercising your democratic right!

Without us, we are nothing.

#VoteforPunk.

Alastair Shibby Bromwich 08.06.2017 @ 9:51am
Oh No! Cast my Postal Vote last week. Waaaaaaaaah! If only I'd taken a little post box selfie.
AndyM 08.06.2017 @ 8:05am
Sadly traveling to Birmingham or Cardiff from Shrewsbury is a bit too far. Happily I have some already in the cupboard, so maybe a cheeky one this evening when I get back from the polling station, even if I've had to buy it myself :)
Mat C 08.06.2017 @ 7:29am
Just voted. Hope to be supping down on a pint later today. #VoteforPunk

How many times can I vote?
BrewDog Rich 07.06.2017 @ 2:01pm
Tom - Best take the selfie outside the polling station itself, with the polling sign in the background!
Tom 07.06.2017 @ 1:48pm
What are the rules for the selfie? Does it need to be outside the voting centre or outside voting booth?
Neil Russell 07.06.2017 @ 1:17pm
Hope to see you in Musselburgh
David 07.06.2017 @ 9:40am
If it gets people to vote and hey beer too go for it though must admit, I've never heard of brewdog before so the marketing is working well too
Jen 06.06.2017 @ 8:38pm
Voted by post but out of the country on Thurs & Fri - still anything that might get people off their butts and voting.. !
BrewDog Rich 06.06.2017 @ 7:45pm
If you voted by post but don't have an email, a photo of the postal vote, if you have one, should suffice!
Melanie 06.06.2017 @ 7:36pm
BEST IDEA EVER!

Well done Brewdog, well done. I'll be seeing you in Hockley on Thursday!
NJ 06.06.2017 @ 6:34pm
I've already posted mine back last week and I see this is UK only.. :(
No chance of popping in to the BrewDog in Brussels I'm guessing.
(yes, I did take a photo, partly to encourage others, partly to spite my aunt who was gloating that my Father didn't have a vote since he moved here to find work over 30 years ago - she tried to gloat that I wouldn't be able to vote, but her suggestion that I come back to the UK to work for a year allowed me to register in time for the EU referendum, ironic really)
Deb 06.06.2017 @ 6:32pm
I've been signed up for postal voting since before email existed. No free beer for me!
Gary 06.06.2017 @ 6:31pm
I have a postal vote but this was confirmed by post not e mail. I presume a photo of my postal form form will be sufficient?
Martin Fisher 06.06.2017 @ 5:45pm
I am a postal voter.. I have already posted it ... what email confirmation? It's all done through the snail mail....
Ben 06.06.2017 @ 4:58pm
Hey, postal voters complaining you'll miss out: read the article.
Alex 06.06.2017 @ 4:30pm
Great plan. Could up the vote in a big way.
Why not tweak the instructions on this page so people share their selfies on social media as well (to inspire other voters that way). Add a packet of peanuts if people can show that they've shared their pick on social, mentioning your #VoteforPunk hashtag?!?
Wayne 06.06.2017 @ 3:45pm
We don't have a Brewdog pub in Fareham, can we have a voucher for use at our Whetherspoons?

:D
BrewDog Rich 06.06.2017 @ 3:38pm
Tim - Great point, yes for people who are gluten intolerant and have voted we will give Vagabond instead of Punk IPA
janos 06.06.2017 @ 2:55pm
cheers rich
Beth 06.06.2017 @ 2:39pm
Brilliant idea! it will actually get people out to vote, it's just a shame there's no Brewdog pub near me!
Tim 06.06.2017 @ 2:23pm
May I have a Vagabond instead please?
RedBrew 06.06.2017 @ 12:55pm
Great idea to encourage voters. Don't be so quick to put down the polls though, there were many predicting the correct results recently, just need to know which analysts and commentators to look at. A more accurate anti neoliberal message is to highlight how most successful campaigns are those with the largest funding...
Rob 06.06.2017 @ 11:50am
Shame you're not doing it here in Shrewsbury.
BrewDog Rich 05.06.2017 @ 3:03pm
To anybody with a postal vote - if you have email confirmation of signing up to vote by post then this will count, so just show the email to the bar on Thursday or Friday to receive your Punk!
Sink 05.06.2017 @ 2:57pm
A shame I have a postal vote :-(
Cammy 05.06.2017 @ 2:50pm
Free punk, I'll be there.
Scott 05.06.2017 @ 2:50pm
