CASK IS BACK

 CASK IS BACK

Cask ale. The ultimate British serving style. We last packaged cask beer nearly ten years ago, but time has moved on. Over that intervening decade a lot has taken place in the beer world and we now believe the time is right to re-introduce BrewDog cask beer. So, as first revealed in last month’s BrewDog Blueprint we are doing just that – from today you’ll be able to enjoy our beer served on cask in perfect condition across our network of Draft House pubs.

And the beer we are leading with? Our session pale ale, Dead Pony Club.

Our Californian-inspired 3.8% ABV pale is perfect for packaging and serving on cask – delivering a box-fresh hop hit from Simcoe, Citra and Mosaic it is our second-best selling beer and we are psyched to see it served in this way for the first time in the six years we have been brewing it.

From today we are pouring Dead Pony Club on cask at the following Draft House pubs:-

Birdcage, Columbia Road E2
Camden Road NW1
Chancery, Plough Place EC4A
Queen Charlotte, Goodge Street W1T
Hammersmith, Shepherds Bush Road W6
Northcote, Northcote Road SW11
Old Street EC1V
Paddington, S Wharf Road W2
Seething Lane EC3N
The Tankard, Kennington Road SE11
Tower Bridge, Tower Bridge Road SE1
Westbridge, Battersea Bridge Road SW11

Each pub has only a couple of casks in their cellar however, so head to your nearest Draft House as soon as you can to get a pint of the first BrewDog cask ale for nearly a decade (other than the attendees at Metro Mayhem last weekend, who were the very first to try it). Following this starting point we are looking to roll out more barrels to other carefully chosen pubs in due course!

We feel the time is right to return to cask-conditioned BrewDog beer for several reasons, but chief amongst them is the issue of quality. Back in the day, we were concerned how often cask beer was incorrectly stored and served, which adversely affected beer quality to a huge degree. With our network of Draft House Bars we have the perfect place to control quality, and store and serve cask Dead Pony Club exactly as we intend.

Because this is the redline for us. We never fell out with cask ale – it was and remains a truly unique way to enjoy beer. With craft beer in keg widely accepted across the UK, now is the perfect time to rediscover this home-grown institution and put some classic BrewDog beers back in cask. And Dead Pony Club is merely the start – if there are any other BrewDog beers you think will be a perfect follow up (we have a few in mind), let us know if the comments below!

It's just got to be 5am Saint in cask. That was the beer that started my journey from real ale to craft. I am sure it would do so for even more people if they got to try it on cask.

Used to love Trashy Blonde in cask. And Alpha Dog too.

My first was Edge at the Star Inn fest back in 2008. My last was Xmas Porter in 2012.

Looking forward to cask in Brewdog Newcastle.

Dennis - Zeitgeist would be great on cask! I think my first was Edge. Cask mild!

Jonathan - There are no finings in our beers, no

Pete H - Hopefully the plan is to move into other trusted pubs in due course :)

The first BrewDog beer I ever drank was Zeitgeist in cask, I'd love to recreate that moment!

If quality is key then your cask must be unfined yeah?
